Lisa Kalus - Industry Specialist
In 1983, while attending CCNY part-time for architecture, I was working full-time for a recruitment firm. There I was given the opportunity to place talent in construction and engineering positions. Although I did receive my B.S. in Architecture in 1984, I discovered that recruitment was my true passion.
My architectural knowledge has been an invaluable resource in my career. I share similar credentials with the people I represent. We speak the same language. That affords me the unique ability to fully understand how their businesses operate and the positions they are seeking to fill. It is also an invaluable tool in accurately evaluating the credentials of the candidates. I pride myself on finding the perfect fit – for both employers and applicants.
As a result, many of my clients and job applicants consider me to be not only a trusted recruitment advisor, but their friend. We keep in touch, and indeed there are candidates that have found jobs throughout their entire careers solely through my efforts. In fact, many of the people I have placed in jobs, over the years, have gone on to hire people from my company years later.
I view my work as a creative process. Depending on the economy, there are times when there are more jobs than qualified people. Other times, there are more people looking for work than there are available jobs. It is my responsibility to navigate through present options in a way that will satisfy both an employer’s and an employee’s needs.
I Know Your Industry
When you partner with LK & A for your recruitment needs, you tap into over 30 years of my experience in the construction industry. I have been acquainted with almost everyone in construction, locally – and indeed have enjoyed long-lasting relationships with many members of the industry.
Not Just the Right Candidate…the Right Person
Finding the person who is the right fit for your business is key. Candidates come to my attention through various sources. No matter how I find a candidate, I make sure that I screen them thoroughly. I take the time necessary to be sure that you do not waste your time.
Many of the most qualified candidates contact me exclusively when searching for a job. These are people that I have placed or met over the years, whose backgrounds I can verify.
There are also referred applicants coming to me from resources I know and trust. Of course, I vigorously research their qualifications to be sure that they meet my standards of excellence.
Many candidates are just passively looking for work, ready to make a move when the appropriate job description comes in. After due diligence, I can get a match that would not be possible by running advertisements.
Lastly, I do advertise. However, my years of experience in your industry afford me the ability to determine when a resume is exaggerated
New Candidates – the LK & A Process
Vetting and approving new candidates is crucial when it comes to finding new employees. To find the perfect match for you, I search for candidates who have worked for companies similar to yours. I look for candidates that have worked on the type of construction that your company specializes in.
I do my best to meet in person every applicant that I refer for a job. Meeting candidates in person gives me much more insight than just
reviewing a resume.
What you can rely upon:
I screen thoroughly
I never refer anyone that changes jobs frequently
If someone is working, I determine whether they are sincerely looking for a job or just a counter-offer from their present employer
I always check references
My fees are reasonable
Making your next career move is a big step, both professionally and personally. You can rely on LK & A to walk you through the process with optimum results.
With 30 years of experience in your industry, I only work with reputable, established companies – many of which use my services repeatedly. They trust my judgement. That’s why I take the time to sit with you, to get to know you. Your qualifications, as well as your dreams and aspirations. That helps me to place you in a good working environment, where you are treated professionally – with respect – and are involved in interesting projects.
If you are currently working, I take extra care to refer you to jobs that will be an improvement over your current position – with the utmost confidentiality. If you’re not working, I try to find a job that is immediately available.
I’ll be happy to consult with you on your resume, if I feel it needs a bit of fine tuning. I’ll also take you through the interview process, so you’ll be well prepared for that special day.
And once I have placed you in a job, I still want to keep in touch. You’re always welcome to call and let me know how your job has worked out.
Of course, all fees are paid by the employer. There’s no cost to you.
At LK & A, you’re not just one candidate in a sea of applicants. You’re an individual. I look forward to helping you achieve your career goals!
